My First Cowon Mp3 player

I have been busy playing with my new Mp3 player
Long time I dreamed about owning a Cowon mp3 player
Last week i finaly decided to get one
The decision stood between J3 (16Gb)+memory card or S9 (32gb)
Both great player finaly decided for S9 since it was always in my heart.

I made a Short review of it read on...

When unboxing the S9 i was surprised to find how light it was
sure is very plastic but is also good to have a light weight player

One of the reason I got Cowon is the freedom to personalize it
to your liking with themes.

Right away i installed themes but quickly found out i was some limited
to use certain themes as a launchpad for more themes.
I think Cowon could should have included a theme launcher
since is not that straithforward for newbies
but you get the grip.

I compared the screen on both Samsung Yp-M1 and S9
and found screen on Samsung be brighter and somewhat better.
maybe is the plastic screen on s9 which work like a fingerprint magnet
or maybe is just samsung over-realistic colors.
somewhat i like the Colors of the samsung Yp-m1
but Cowon wins as video player because you wont need much conversion
like on samsung just drag&drop fast.
Hey is even easyer than ipod touch.
S9 does a brilliant job there.

One thing i am missing with S9 is visualeffects during music playback
sometimes you can get bored looking at album arts.
fortunaly there is many Music themes you can play with.

cowon S9 supourt many formats, testing Flac made it play perfect
unlike samsung Yp-m1 where album art on Flac refused to show.
this is not a problem on S9.

The music Screen on Samsung Yp-m1 is better since you can see
smale album art in the music browser on S9 you only see text.
am refering to the Album browser once song is selcted
you do get album art in middle of screen on S9 as on most players
S9 have many cool Cover flow option horizontal
however must of them are very slow.
I just wish cowon could have done like samsung on the album browser.

This player is very easy to slip since it so light so be warned.
i guess that is one of the disadvantages of having a feather-light player.

All in all i am happy with the player but it could have been better.
but as I get to know the player better i probaly like it more.

I love loud music samsung is one of the few giving you extreme loudness.
to get aceptable volume on Cowon S9 you select Usa
that way bypassing the stupid European sound-limitation law/guideline.
many electronics manufactures enjoy following.

Volume on Cowon S9 set to usa is Ok
but samsung is still a "little bit" louder but not by much.
maybe some EQ settings (which cowon has a lot off) will do up for this.

Some companies like Sony are very paranoid about the sound limitation
not giving the user the freedom to have loud sound.
This upset me very much and Reason why i dropped Sony players
until they put volume loud again.

CONCLUSION:
Cowon S9 is a advanced player for audiophiles and not for just anyone
I found is not so easy for a newbies to install themes,games and apps.
but once you get the grip on it is very cool device

So Cowon S9 is a recomended player
maybe i should have got the Cowon J3 but it looked too much alike my M1.
